Tung Ping Chau is located at Mirs Bay, on the northeast corner of Hong Kong. Due to its remoteness, transportation is only available during weekends and public holiday. The ferry connecting Tung Ping Chau is operated by Tsui Wah Ferry. The fare is $90 for a return trip.
Tung Ping Chau is renowned for its shale. A unique type of rock.
It is one of the most spectacular place to dive in Hong Kong. It has a wide range of biodiversity including the rare brown alga Sargassum.
You are also expected to see other creatures like Nerite Snail, Barnacle, Platygyra sinensis, Favosites.
A dive shop is also available at Tung Ping Chau - TPC Dive (東平潛水樂園), equipment is available for renting, including oxygen tank and other equipment.
Due to its remoteness from the city and pollution, Tung Ping Chau is one of the area in Hong Kong with the cleanest water. Visibility is usually around 10-20 meters.
However, recent study also suggests coral reefs has been damaged by scuba divers. So while you enjoy your dive, please do take care of the valuable coral reefs under the sea.
